This year I started mixing it up for lunch! On Tuesdays I randomly pick 2 students from grades 6, 7 and 8 to come eat lunch in my room. On Wednesdays I eat with a mix of k5, 1st and 2nd graders. On Thursdays, 3rd, 4th and 5th-graders join me. This is a great time for all! We learn about one another on a different level, have some laughs and play a quick game before heading out for recess.
It's UR Choice!
This week in Guidance, grades 4 through 8 will be diving into an interactive program that will help them make smart choices when faced with the pressures of using and abusing alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. This program is aligned with national health education standards and is developed using evidence based or informed research. Mrs. Hegemann and I will be team teaching grades 6-8 this unit during our scheduled Health time. This month in Guidance Classes K5-3, students will be participating in a program called Mission:Health, created by Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. The students will establish healthy habits and increase physical activity. They will learn about eating right, staying fit and feeling good about their bodies. This particular program is done on the Smart Board, which students LOVE because they can move around and interact during class. Look for handouts and ask your students what they have been learning and how they can teach you to be a healthier you!
