Has your child come home saying he/she is a bucket filler or that someone helped fill his/her bucket? Are you wondering what that means? Let me explain...this week in Guidnace, I read the story "Have you Filled a Bucket Today?" By Carol McCloud to all the students in grades k-5. The book explains that we all carry an invisible bucket in which we keep our feelings about ourselves. When our buckets are full, we are happy; when they are empty, we are sad. We practiced filling each others buckets in class and learned that by filling others buckets we also fill up our own too! This activity encouraged positive behavior and students saw how easy and rewarding it is to express kindness and appreciation on a daily basis. I have asked the elementary teachers to inform me of their weekly Bucket Fillers so that I can reward them with a certificate, pencil and a sticker.
